Mandy is an eight yr old English Springer Spaniel who didn't have the benefit of a good start to her life. At the age of five she was removed from her original home for neglect. There are different forms of neglect and while there was no evidence of physical abuse, it is believed that she suffered through lack of basic necessities, quality care and was emotionally and mentally affected.

Toronto Humane Society Officials Arrested For Animal Cruelty

The Toronto Humane Society’s president, chief veterinarian and three others face criminal charges for animal cruelty. Animals were allegedly denied food, water and proper veterinary treatment. Toronto police and agents from the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals raided the building at 3:00 Thursday afternoon, which resulted in five men being handcuffed and escorted out of the building. The OSPCA’s lawyer described the shelter as “disease-infested.”

We have a Springer spaniel puppy that is 6 months old. Since about 4 mths. she has developed a tremor in her jaw. While petting her, you can actually see the tremor starting as the muscle along the jaw line start quivering, as does her eye. She does not seem to be in pain, but then again, often humans don't know when their dog is in pain.

We have tried everything but our 1.5 year old American cocker spaniel is starting to lose hair from scratching. We have changed floor cleaner, his bi-monthy baths (are now oatmeal and hypo-allergenic), his bedding washed in hypo-allergenic soap...

Plan Approved For More Leash-Free Zones In Toronto Parks

Last Night, plans to develop more leash-free zones and give bylaw enforcement officers more authority was approved by a large margin at city hall. The plan calls for community residents to band together and form an association which then must apply to have a leash-free zone created. If the area meets the requirements, is not apposed by area residents and is approved by city officials a new leash free area can be created.

The City of Toronto is proposing regulations for professional dog walkers who take dogs to city parks. [...] Dog walkers could soon be charged between $100 - $200 per year for a “Dog Walker License” and could also be required to have $1 million worth of liability coverage.

Those who want more space in city parks to let their dogs roam “leash-free” while others want park space available just for kids, walking, biking etc. Tonight, June 4th, many standing to support both sides will meet to debate a new policy that would allow neighbourhood groups to apply for off-lease areas for dogs in their own local park area.
