Pug Angels - STOP PUPPY MILLS!

Posted by Lowell Brown on January 9th 2009 Categorized under Shows & Events

Pug Angels is holding its inaugural Chinese New Year Fundraiser Gala benefiting Tejas Animal Refuge at the Pawsway, 245 Queens Quay, Toronto, www.pawsway,ca, on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 6:30 p.m.  The price of $40.00 per person includes a Chinese buffet dinner sponsored by Bright Pearl Restaurant, www.brightpearlseafood.com

Maggie Cassella will be hosting the event and there will be live performances including a special presentation by a female impersonator doing an interpretation of the Last Empress of China.  A silent auction is being held with items to appeal to every taste including a cruise for two.

Pug Angels has chosen Tejas Animal Refuge, www.tejasanimalrefuge.ca,  as the organization they wish to support for the fiscal year 2008-09.  Nicole Joncas, the founder of Tejas, is currently suing the Quebec Government and Anima-Quebec, for not enforcing the provisions of the Animal Health Act.  The litigation costs may reach $50,000.00.  Pug Angels has been raising donated dollars to help Nicole reach her goal.  Nicole also operates a refuge for abandoned and abused animals on her property in Glen Robertson, Ontario.

Pug Angels Animal Care, a not for profit, volunteer run organization, was formed to strategize towards the change of animal protection laws in Ontario and influence criminal sanctions in Canada.  Pug Angels has participated in nine dog related events including Woofstock and All About Pets, since the organization was formed in January 2008.

For further details on the Fundraiser as well as Pug Angels, their website is www.pugangels.com. Advance ticket sales only are available at the Pawsway and on Pug Angels'website.
