Great news (and great work) from Animal Alliance of Canada

Posted by Liz White on September 19th 2010 Categorized under News & Announcements

Great news (and great work) from Animal Alliance of Canada: Because of your commitment and our collective hard work, the University of Guelph and the Ontario Veterinary College have made three significant decisions: 1) no more pound animals will be used at the University for teaching or experimentation; 2) all animals used in theVeterinary Skills Training and Enhancement Program (VSTEP) are to be recovered and adopted out; and 3) there will be no more animals killed for pracrice surgeries by veterinary students. These three changes will save approximately 700 animals yearly! If anyone is still interested in adopting a research animal, please give the University a call. The person to call at the University's Central Animal Facility is Annette Morrison, one of the animal care technicians. She is responsible for adoptions and can be reached at 1-519-824-4120 ext: 54308 We really cannot thank you enough, on behalf of the animals. Liz White and the AAC crew (Ed Note: readers should write the school administrators and praise this.)
