The challenge? It’s March Break again: the time of year that gets parents wondering “how am I going to keep the kids busy for a whole week?” Finding new March Break activities for the family can be tough, especially for those on a budget (which in today’s economy is just about everyone). More than half of Canadian households have pets, so animal-friendly activities are a must-have for kids and parents alike.
The solution? Families looking for free fun that involves the pets, should check out PawsWay Pet Discovery Centre this March Break. Have a dog or cat? Bring them with you. No pets? No worries! Come and meet people with pets!
Plus, PawsWay has special activities planned for families this March Break:
· Special Classes for Kids and Pets: PawsWay has a host of free classes from March 15 – 19; everything from animal drawing classes taught by a local artist, to classes where kids can enter the world of dog sports (and get some exercise while they’re at it!). Or, if geography is their thing, kids can learn about the different cat breeds found around the world. And these are only some of the classes available.
· Bonus March Weekend Programming: Families can check out fun doggie sports and agility activities such as “Rally-O” on March 20 and 21, and cat-loving kids can take part in the Cats, Cats, Cats Extravaganza planned for the weekend of March 27.
· PawsWay’s “Paw-riffic” Exhibits: All March long kids can discover how to calculate a dog’s true age, find out what cats and dogs see, and learn about the seven different classifications of dog breeds (and what makes each one special). Pet owners can also take The Healthy Hug Test to find out the proper size and weight for their dog or cat, as well as the best ways to keep their furry family members lean, fit and healthy.
· Celebrate Animal Heroes: Get your tissues ready and walk through the Purina Animal Hall of Fame. Read the moving stories and meet more than 140 amazing, life-saving pet heroes. Learn about Jarod, the Chow Chow who saved his owner from a bear attack, or Mel-o, the cat who stopped a young boy from slipping into a diabetic coma. These tales are guaranteed to make Mom, the kids, and even Dad shed a tear or two!
PawsWay, located at 245 Queens Quay West, will be open to families and pets this March Break from Monday, March 15th through to Friday March 19th from 11a.m. until 4p.m. and over the weekends from 11a.m. until 6p.m. For more information, or to learn more about the free activities available throughout March, visit www.pawsway.ca.
