It’s called common sense - yet some people seem to lack it.
On Tuesday July 31, at around 2 PM - Toronto Humane Society officials were called to a parking lot located at King and Jameson. The Reason - a dog was left in a car, possibly for several hours, in sweltering heat. If that wasn’t senseless enough, adding to an already terrible situation, no windows were left open.
Toronto Humane Society officials arrive to find a large breed Rottweiler, about 110 pounds, slumped over the back seat with his legs up and a blank stare forward, foaming from the mouth. According to Toronto Humane Society’s cruelty investigator Tre Smith, the dog was unresponsive. The THS official acted quickly to break into the car and rescue the dog which was taken to the THS for emergency care soon after.
If it wasn’t for the the Bystanders who called the THS and the quick actions of Tre Smith the rottweiler may not have lived.
The dog owner has been charged with charged with animal cruelty.

As of today, the dog is doing better than expected and is recovering well. HTS officials believe brain damage isn’t as bad initially expected.
As posted in the CityNews article:
Humane Society officials say it’s a perfect reminder that if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them. And dogs, cats or any pet should never be left in a car during the summer heat, even for a few minutes. “This happens all the time,” Smith complains. “There’s ten or fifteen calls a day of people leaving animals in cars. So do us all a favour and your animal and yourself. Leave your animals at home.”
