Collie Rescue Network (CRN) is an all volunteer rescue organization that was established in 2004. The group is dedicated to providing for the Rough and Smooth Collies in need across Canada. CRN works closely with many shelters across the nation as well as taking Collies into the rescue program from owners who can no longer care for their beloved dogs for a variety of reasons.
Currently with CRN and searching for her forever home is Tippy, a beautiful 7-year-old Tri-coloured Smooth Collie. Tippy was originally found as a stray in the Moncton, NB area and when no one came to claim her she was placed up for adoption. After several months in the shelter Tippy was finally adopted and went home with her new family. Sadly, her new owner was diagnosed with a terminal illness just a few months later and Tippy was returned to the shelter. After spending a total of almost 18 months in the shelter, Tippy was flown to Ontario to enter the CRN rescue program, where she has been now for 6 months. All in all, Tippy has spent almost 2 years searching for a place to call home.

She is a lovely girl – affectionate, gentle and sweet. She is wonderful with people and meets and greets all humans with a tail wag. She acts much younger than her 7 years and will do best in a home with an active couple who enjoy several long walks each day and maybe even some play time in the yard. She has no health issues, is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and is ready to be loved by that special family!
Tippy does not like cats so she must go to a feline-free home. CRN is asking that Tippy’s new family has a fenced yard as she was found as a stray originally and may have an inclination to wander. Her recall is a work in progress and her foster mom, who has been working with her, says she is coming along nicely.

Tippy will do best in a home as the only dog, or perhaps with a very laid-back male canine buddy. For whatever reason Tippy seems to struggle with reading “doggie language” and when approached by other dogs she sometimes gets defensive. She will calm down when given direction and will actually play with another dog once she realizes they only want to have fun – however, slow introductions to new canine pals will be required to help Tippy learn about new dog friends. Tippy will not be a dog you can take to an off-leash dog park. In short, Tippy would be quite happy to have human companionship and soak up all the love herself.
Tippy is truly a sweet girl with a wonderful temperament and a loving personality who loves affection, attention and cuddling on the couch with her people. Tippy will make some lucky family a great companion where she will be loved and where she can finally know that she will never, ever have to move again. She would be HOME at last – like LASSIE COMES HOME.
