Rona is a 4 year old 120 lb. spayed female Central Asian Shepherd (CAS). She looks similar to a blond short-coated Saint Bernard with cropped ears and a docked tail (and without much drool). CAS have a long history as livestock and compound guardian dogs for the nomadic Mogul tribes and are rare indeed in this part of the globe. Someone imported her and a male to Canada to breed however she wasn't interested in his plan and refused the male, so she was of no use to this owner. Rona ended up surrendered to the care of Helping Homeless Pets. Rona is now spayed (and her stomach is tacked to her abdomen to prevent future risk of bloat) and recovering from the surgeries and a previous injury to her paw. Throughout all the procedures she has won the hearts of all who have met her. She is an affectionate and loving girl, in fact downright scandalous with everyone she meets. Rona loves to be the center of attention! However this is a breed known to be protective so she will need a knowledgeable adopter due to her size and potential power, and one who can provide the necessary companionship and a securely fenced yard. Rona is not used to living with other dogs and will need some ongoing work on socialization - she is generally placid but does not like dogs near her food and is especially wary of small dogs darting in and out under her feet.

If you think this big love bug is the one for you, please contact Luan through Helping Homeless Pets at luan@ils.net to receive an adoption application.
